21 people from Cote d’Ivoire have the same carbon footprint as one person in the UK, but studies have shown that Africa is the continent most vulnerable to climate change. Declining yields as a result of the changing climate, and the costs of adaptation, are putting farmers in the global south under even more pressure.
For this reason, the Fairtrade Community is backing the Climate Coalition’s declaration that the time is now for action on climate change. Will you add your name and stand up for farmers and workers around the world?
With the next UN Climate Summit taking place in Glasgow in November 2021 (delayed a year by COVID), it’s critical we all make sure producers’ voices are heard in the UK and beyond. Sign the declaration here. Thank-you.
